Device status lights
What the yellow, blue, and red lights on your XemTrack device mean.
Use this guide to check whether your tracker is working before and after you sign in to the app. Check the lights whenever a device is not showing as online.
Yellow LED — mobile signal (GSM)
This light shows whether the device can connect to the mobile network.
| Light pattern | What it means |
|---|---|
| Quick flash (about 2 times per second) | The device cannot read the SIM card. Check that the SIM is inserted correctly and is the right size (Micro for the OBD GPS Tracker). |
| Slow flash (about once per second) | The device is starting up and connecting to the mobile network. Wait a minute or two. |
| Steady on | Mobile signal is good. The device is connected to the network. |
Blue LED — GPS signal
This light shows whether the device can see GPS satellites.
| Light pattern | What it means |
|---|---|
| Quick flash | GPS signal is good. The device knows its location. |
| Slow flash | There may be a GPS hardware problem. Contact support if this continues after a few minutes outdoors. |
| Steady on | The device is searching for GPS. Move the vehicle outdoors with a clear view of the sky and wait a few minutes. |
Red LED — charging only
The red light only works while the device is charging (for example, when connected to USB power). It is not a fault indicator during normal use in a vehicle.
| Light pattern | What it means |
|---|---|
| Steady on | The battery is charging. |
| Off | The battery is fully charged (while still on charge). |
Healthy device — quick check
After power-on, outdoors with a clear sky view, you should normally see:
- Yellow light steady on
- Blue light quick flashing
That means the tracker is ready to report its position. Continue with Wait for your device to come online in the app.
Still not working?
Turn the vehicle off and on, or unplug and replug the tracker. Wait two minutes and check the lights again.
Remove and reinsert the SIM card. Make sure it is a Micro SIM for the OBD GPS Tracker.
- Move outdoors where the sky is visible (GPS needs a clear view upward).
